Sing your truth. Defend your dream. Defy your stars.

A month has passed since Iris joined an underground rebel group to save Dámiul from the brutal prison he was sent to for fighting back against his world’s oppressive system. Here, conformity and compliance are enforced through telepathy, and Earthling performers are brainwashed into absolute obedience.

Word of a merciless crackdown on those who sympathize with their cause leaves both Iris and Dámiul yearning for action. Determined to liberate her kind, Iris volunteers to return to her former patrons and covertly recruit supporters.

A raid on their hideout catapults her plan into action sooner than expected and forces her to leave Dámiul behind. After persuading the authorities that she’d been telepathically manipulated into helping him, Iris assumes the role of a dutiful musician while secretly spreading whispers of a possible uprising among her fellow performers. But the authorities always seem to be one step ahead, and anyone who defies them is swiftly mind-wiped.

Soon, Iris is forced to confront a horrifying fact: there’s a traitor among them. Desperately clinging to her cover, she races to find out who before her true loyalties are discovered—and the search leads her to an unthinkable answer.

July 2018 Updates and News!

Coming October 2018

My short story, "A Handful of Seeds" will be appearing in this anthology from Blue Crow Publishing.  The story is loosely inspired by the myth of Persephone and Hades, but with a modern twist.

In the small farming community of Cypress Knee, everyone grows up and leaves, or grows old and dies, but no one new ever comes to town. So, seventeen-year-old Kora Demetri can't help being curious about the enigmatic Hayden Rhea when he and his little brother move to Cypress Knee to live with their grandparents. Kora has been a contented farm girl all her life, but a sense of disquiet has been growing inside her, and she wonders if Hayden has something to do with it. As Kora and Hayden’s friendship grows more intimate, she discovers he has secrets. She also learns Hayden’s father is a dangerous man, intent on reclaiming his son, and he’ll kill anyone who gets in his way. As Kora and Hayden rush to save his grandfather and brother from his father’s violence, Kora realizes that while Hayden has known only death and darkness, she can be a source of light and life. Together, they could be strong enough to defeat Hayden’s father.

For good or ill—on the page or in life—few things are more alluring than the siren song of a secret.

At the heart of each story in this genre-crossing collection lies a secret. A boy who is not a boy at all, a neighbor with a mysterious identity, a tortured student with a list that isn’t what it seems, a girl who abandoned the person she used to be at the bottom of a river.

Conflict and possibility are embedded in a secret’s very nature...betrayal and conspiracy are encoded in its DNA. Secrets can transform. They can alienate, anger, or inspire.

One thing is for sure: They make a great story.

WICKED SOUTH: SECRETS AND LIES is an anthology featuring young adult stories by authors from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Contributors are New York Times Bestselling author Emily Colin, Elizabeth DeVido, award-winning author Lauren Faulkenberry, Amy Hyatt Fonseca, Lauren Fulcher, award-winning author Robin Kirk, John Klekamp, Karissa Laurel, and Katie Rose Guest Pryal.

Crown of Thunder

Stormbourne Chronicles: Book 3

The series is complete. Crown of Thunder, the third and final book in the Stormbourne Chronicles is written. Now to editing! We're hoping for a December release, but only if all the stars align like they are supposed to. Publishing often takes the effort of a team, and these books have had the wonderful help of a lot of team members.

I'll have a blurb for the book soon, but I think this quote sums it up nicely:
